AMELIA NATIONAL TENNIS SUPPORTS ARK
November 14, 2015 – The wind was chilly but the generosity was warm! All for a good cause, tennis players, music lovers, families and friends enjoyed the beautiful courts of Amelia National Tennis Club and the music of Miguel Paley.
The Honorable John Drew served as emcee and led the way to raise funds to benefit the Friends of Ark Scholarship Program. Scholarships cover private pay for qualified individuals who cannot otherwise afford to attend Ark of Nassau’s Day Training Program.
Joe and Diana Mattingly, owners of the Amelia National Tennis Club, opened their hearts and the Tennis Club for this event and Joe provided a private tennis lesson for two of Ark’s individuals, Brod and Matt.
Tennis Pros Vishnu and Michele Maharaj coordinated and played in a round robin with several tennis enthusiasts from the Amelia National Tennis Club and the Fernandina Beach community. “One goal of the Club is to use tennis as way to bring everyone together and support our local community. Through our efforts we were able to raise more than $1600 to directly support the Ark of Nassau,” said Mr. Maharaj.
“On behalf of everyone at Ark, we offer a warm thank you to the participants and volunteers who made this event lots of fun and generated terrific impact to serve the mission of Ark,” states Vivian Sankey, chairman of Ark of Nassau’s Board of Directors.
